Last weekend me and my girls hit up Venice Beach for some much needed fun and relaxation. And what is an official girls day without like 3,000 calories of good food and entertainment? Lol. It’s probably not the best idea to wear a crop top on the day you decided to stuff your face but I figured hey...who gone say something? Lol. Sooooo I did just that. I wore a black and white striped ¾ sleeve crop top with back cut outs, my DIY distressed shorts and finished off everything with a 90’s style round hat…for a fun and casual look.

I really liked how it came out, but I must admit that I never really wore a crop top without some type of jacket. So this was new for me, yet exciting and liberating to not care what the next person thinks and just do me.  If you are iffy on trying out the crop top trend, check out some tips from Stylish Curves (below) On how to make the trend work for you ;)

DIY: Bandeau Top

So, the other night I was in a DIY mood and decided to try a sexy DIY Bandeau Top tutorial that I saw on Kendra’s Beauty Corner. She posted the top on her IG @beautifulkendra a few months ago and I decided I had to try it. Super perfect for these hot summer nights and, not to mention, simple. Who says your favorite fall scarves have to lay by the wayside when summer comes along? Lol. I decided to go for an animal print scarf, a long maxi skirt and a cropped jean vest. I finished the look off with a chunky gold necklace, large envelope clutch, black flats and a shimmery pink lip. Refashion Your Jewelry

Some of my old jewelry

Ok, so we have all heard of refashion'ing your clothing...but get your money's worth and refashion your jewelry too! On some down time, I took some of my old bracelets that showed a little wear and tear or that were outdated and fabric wrapped them! It didn't take much time and it added some spunk to my jewelry collection! I didn't get a chance to do a tutorial or anything..but I really dont think you'll need one..its fairly simple. Here's what you'll need:

1. Old bracelets

2. Desired fabric

3. Fabric glue

4. Scissors

Start off by cutting fabric in 2-3 inch strips. Use fabric glue at your starting point. Secure fabric strip in place. Wrap the fabric around the bracelet and secure with fabric glue at your ending point (may need to be repeated depending on how long your fabric strip is and how big your bracelet is). And there you have it, a brand new piece to add to your collection full of color and texture! The best thing about this is that you could use the same bracelet over and over with new fabrics! OOTD: Headpiece

I don't know what it is but it seems like as I've gotten older I do not watch music videos anymore! I'm literally asking, "Oh they have a video for that song?" lol. So anyways, I kept hearing about Brandy and Monica's song together...heard some good things..heard some bad. But no matter what the opinion was on the song, I heard that they both looked great on the video.  Which prompted me to look it up a few days ago. As soon as I saw Monica and her headpiece I knew I HAD to have one of my own! Like now! I'm a good DIY'er if I REALLY REALLY apply myself..but I'm not into doing too much. If I need more than 5 materials...I'm good...lol. So I searched for an easy way to do this. I found a few videos to get an idea of what I wanted to do and then just improvised using all materials that I already had. Here is my outfit ofthe day with my DIY head piece :)

DIY Notes: Take a long chain and measure it to the size of your head, where it would fit comfortably on you. Cut the chain, and connect the two ends by opening the loop with round nose pliers and securing the loop again. I found a charm bracelet that I already had and removed one of the charms that I wanted to be my focal point. Goto the middle of your chain and open a loop, thread your charm through the loop and secure again with pliers and your done!
