LA FASHION WEEK

10.27.2017

Hey loves! Issa #FlashbackFriday! A couple weeks ago I had the amazing opportunity to go to LAFW to attend the Bishme R. Cromartie show. I was super excited but had no idea what to wear, per usual. I knew that I wanted to be cute and comfy, but that just sounded too regular shmegular for a legit fashion show!

Then, I thought of this mutli-color fur coat that I got from GS love! It was PERFECT! It allowed me to look fashionable without me having to prop it up, stick it out and suck it in lol. I paired it with a white bodysuit and black skinnies from Fashion Nova and a floral crossbody bag from Boohoo. I drew inspiration from these two fabulous pictures on Pinterest :) Who says that us big girls can't rock the same styles as our smaller fashion sisters?! #SamefitDoneThick

I hope you enjoyed this look! And if you want to see my night and the details of this outfit click the video below! I have definitely been more consistent on Youtube, so if you want to see a lot of the looks that I post here, in motion, be sure to subscribe to my channel! And drop by and say hi, I respond!

Much love,

Maidenform Shapewear

10.01.2017

This post is sponsored by Maidenform. As always, all opinions are my own.

Shapewear! This is probably one of the biggest topics in the plus-size community and the most asked about question on my blog, Instagram and YouTube. I vowed to give you an inside look at some of my favorite shapewear products. So let’s go!

For years, I have used waist cinchers and similar products as my shapewear go-to. And even though I am not against them, they definitely have a down side. First, they are just downright uncomfortable. It may be good for a picture or two, but to actually go to an event or, Lord forbid, a sit-down dinner, you are bound to be in pain and just feel “stuffy” overall. Secondly, they are pretty bulky and depending on the fit and the fabric of your clothing, you could see the full outline of the cincher, hooks and all lol. Last but not least, they push all your weight upward which is definitely not the look that we are going for.

These three reasons alone made me want to look into and try other shapewear options to find what works for me. And I am so glad that I did! We all want to look and feel our best and Maidenform Firm Foundations does just that! Unlike shapewear built from a smaller size pattern and scaled up, the new Maidenform collection is designed specifically for the figures and body shapes of women sizes 1X - 4X, with features that move with you for a flexible fit.

In this blog post, I am wearing the Hi-Waist Thigh Slimmer. The fit was medium to firm, and I felt that it gave a natural look that was me, but more smooth and polished. I ordered a size down (2X) and it worked perfectly. I was surprised by how soft and flexible the lace was, unlike your typical lace that can sometimes be scratchy, stiff and uncomfortable. What I liked most was that I could totally wear it to brunch and a full day out with no problem.  I think a big part of feeling confident in your outfit, is being comfortable. If you are adjusting yourself all day, shifting, shimmying or dang near out of breath than it definitely shows and affects how you feel. I tried out both the bodybriefer and thigh slimmer and they both had some great features that I was really looking for in my shapewear:

Bodybriefer - MSRP $59

Bella Lime

Dress | Heels

I don't know what it is about lime but I absolutely love the color! Even though we are approaching the end of summer it is a fun lively color that I would wear well into Fall and beyond. In today's look I am rocking a sultry dress with tulip draped detailing that is super sexy and very flattering, if I do say so myself. The cut of the dress pulls the waist in while the draping conceals the tummy area. I did not wear any shapewear in this look! Just a good strapless bra :)

You could wear this look for a night on the town or a dinner date. Whatever you choose you will definitely demand the attention of the room!

What's summer without a good maxi dress? They are stylish, super comfy and practically effortless. I kept this look simple and allowed the dress to be the focal point by adding minimal jewelry and a bucket bag to finish off the look!

Tip: You could give this dress some boho flair by adding a gorgeous flower crown, printed hair scarf or a flowy kimono. The options are limitless!

heat wave

7.09.2017

Hey loves! Long time no talk to! I know. I'm horrible. But, I feel like people just want to know the outfit details, for the most part, so I stopped writing. But, I have to remember that some people actually do enjoy my writing and it's a way for us to connect and vibe together! I know you have heard this before, but I will do better!

So, it's a zillion degrees in Cali. Especially in my area. Some of you may not know but I moved about an hour outside of the LA area, to a more mountain/desert location. I absolutely, love how quiet, peaceful and non-congested it is here. It has really allowed me to focus more and feel more at peace. And if I want to go to the glam, lights, fast-paced life of LA I am only an hour away.

But with the desert life comes the desert heat! For the past two days it's been between 105 and 106 degrees. Yeah, quite ridiculous. Which could really be a pain when shooting looks. Yeah, being hot and sweaty? Not cute. A lot of times, I feel the less clothes the better! lol So, of course I had to pull out the cut-off's and lightweight tops. Because ain't nobody got time for that!

I also really want to get more into being a tourist in my own area and even in LA, there are a lot of places I still have not seen yet. So, to beat the heat. I decided to visit Castle Park. It's a small amusement park in Riverside county that has a water park in the summer, rides, arcade games and miniature golf. It is super reasonable ($24.99) for season passes and is the perfect size to me. I hate walking around amusement parks for hours and hours in the heat. Thee worse.

So on this day, I bought season passes for the family and we went and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We visited Buccaneer Cove, which is the water area of the park and played some golf. The water area is small (think kiddie land at soak city with a few extra slides), with no pool unfortunately, but it definitely does the job!

What is the weather like in your area? And what are you doing to beat the heat? I need to know! lol

Much love,
Tiff
