What motivated you to lose weight and how much have you lost?

Honestly I really got tired of being the big one, the fat friend, or the she's pretty for a big girl. When I finally made up my mind I remember talking to my ex, and telling him I was going on a diet.. He just looked and said " you always say that, just let it go"... While I don't really think he knew how those words affected me! The journey started off trying to prove everyone wrong who had ever written me off especially him, but a month into things it became more about me, and how I was feeling and treating my body like a temple!  Start weight 280lbs and I've lost exactly 80lbs!

What did you do to lose weight? (ie. weight watchers, low carb, portion control, fitness apps, exercise, juicing, etc.)

I started off eating really clean, only proteins, veggies, fruits & a minimum of 3 starches a week mainly brown rice and sweet potatoes. Once I incorporated the gym, I would walk for 60 minutes on the treadmill and once I built up endurance I started interval training once I started running the weight really started to melt off. And once the lbs started flying I started strength training with weights toning my areas to keep a toned physique.

What are some of your favorite meals, food items or snacks when dieting?

My favorite foods are spinach, and almonds.. Almonds are great for snacking and curbing your appetite! I also love love cliff's white chocolate macadamia nut granola bars. And fresh cut pineapples, I eat them every day!

Did you follow any weight loss “rules”? (ie. no eating after 5, no carbs, etc)

The only weight loss rule I really followed was no fried foods, I couldn't follow a time schedule for eating because of my work schedule, so when I did eat late I made sure it was a lite meal.

In your opinion, what is the hardest thing about weight loss?

The hardest thing about losing weight has got to be consistency and having your mind made up. It's easy to eat right for that 1st week but what happens when you're bored by the 2nd week. I always say it's mind over matter!

What are some of the joys of being at a healthier weight?

Although I'm not quite at my ideal weight, the best feeling has got to be, being able to go into any store and knowing they will have my size! My wardrobe has drastically changed lol I've bought clothes just because and also when you haven't seen an old friend in a while and they see you for the first time after your weight loss.

If you could leave readers with a word of advice or any tips, what would it be?

My advice is to have your mind made up and set! Once you change your mind, you then can change your body. Weight loss starts with the mind!!!

1.    What motivated you to lose weight and how much have you lost?
There were many reasons why I started my journey. Most of my family is overweight, women especially. I basically feared continuing the cycle. I feared becoming pregnant at my heaviest weight of 220lbs, and raising a child, and trying to instill healthy habits when I didn't have those myself. So, that reality alone was enough, plus being cute for the fat girl type comments, and having a hard time shopping for my size. It was frustrating. I've lost 80lbs. I currently weigh 140lbs :-)

2.    What did you do to lose weight? (ie. weight watchers, low carb, portion control, fitness apps, exercise, juicing, etc.)

Good question... My journey has taken me through a lot of "diets" lol. I started with a high protein high fat low carb, I've done low carb... What I feel really worked for me was incorporating 6 meals each containing protein, greens, and complex carbs. I don't count calories, just my daily meals :-)

3.    What are some of your favorite meals, food items or snacks when dieting?

My favorite right now is oatmeal with egg whites! It's usually my first meal of the day before the gym.. I already have oatmeal made, so just put some in a bowl, pour liquid egg whites, microwave for 2 minutes. Add some cinnamon and sometimes I'll add coconut sugar. Delicious!

4.    Did you follow any weight loss “rules”? (ie.  no eating after 5, no carbs, etc)

Only rule I follow is to eat, and eat plenty of protein.

5.    In your opinion, what is the hardest thing about weight loss?

In my opinion, the hardest part of weight loss is consistency. It's not an easy journey, and it will definitely test your limits. And it's a matter of sticking it through. And being patient.

6.    What are some of the joys of being at a healthier weight?

Wow, so many!!! Well, definitely attracting more variety of men lol I love shopping now. I can fit in anything! Feels amazing. My energy levels are so high. I'm much more productive. Have a new perspective to life. But, most importantly the feedback I get from others... It truly brings me joy hearing (reading) others say that seeing my transformation pics has given them hope that they can reach their goals. I've never had anyone serve as an example of a healthy fit life, and the fact that I can be that to others feels amazing.

7.    If you could leave readers with a word of advice or any tips, what would it be?

The best advice I can give is to never give up. Results take time. Don't rush it. Be disciplined, be patient, stay consistent. Results will come. Change the mind, and the body will follow ;-)

My 60lb Weight Loss Transformation & Weight Gain Story

10.30.2014

Today’s post is something that is very personal for me and just hard for me to do. If you have been following my blog you know that I started a weight loss segment called “LNL Weightloss” where I periodically feature women who have become healthier, lost weight and kept it off. But, I have never shared MY personal journey or struggles.

5 years ago, I lost 60lbs and kept it off for 3 years. I went from 270 to 210…from a 3X to a Large. And, slowly but surely, gained it all back. I created this video to encourage women and show that weight loss can be done with hard work, but it’s even harder work to keep it off. It’s time for a change in my life. I will always be #TeamThick, but it’s time to be a healthier me and be #FitNThick ;) Follow or Join me on my journey to reaching #HealthyCurves!

Much love,
Tiff @LaceNLeopard

Down nearly 100lbs! Check out Kimberly's amazing weight loss story!!

Much love,

What motivated you to lose weight and how much have you lost?

My motivation was first me not being able to be active without getting tired and having no energy. Secondly, I was not happy with the way I look. I was too young and felt so self-conscious.  In 2011 I weighed 280 and today my current weight is 183 so its not a overnight process it takes time to drop it and even harder to keep it off!

What did you do to lose weight?

I first started taking phentermine pills that I feel is now the absolute worst way! The pills caused me to over eat when I stop taking them and gained all the weight back. I then found the only way to drop the weight was taking it back to the roots Cardio & Healthy eating! I downloaded the "lose it" app to count my calories for my desired goal weight and begin walking everyday. I set a goal to walk an extra mile each day. I once walked 10 miles in one day! I did not join a gym until a year later after my weight loss.

What are some of your favorite meals, food items or snacks when dieting?

My favorite meals are..
Tilapia fish baked with broccoli and brown rice
Tyson precooked grill chicken strips, which I eat on a whole grain tortillas with lettuce and low fat shredded cheese
Special K cereal with a banana
Oatmeal with blueberries
I snack on fruits and baby carrot sticks.
I learned that all those 100 calorie snacks are not good for the body due to artificial sugar, gluten, and fructose. I just recently this 2014 year cutting out all quick package snacks. I traded them in for grapes, oranges, apples, strawberries, etc.
Lastly removing all juices and soda out and moving in water water and water!

Did you follow any weight loss “rules”? (ie. no eating after 5, no carbs, etc)

Only weight loss rule I try to maintain is not going over my calorie intake.

In your opinion, what is the hardest thing about weight loss?

Hardest thing with weight loss was balancing my social life with my weight loss journey. Friends and family have many events that cause temptation with my eating habits. Its hard to resist soul food, pastries, and restaurant dinners.

What are some of the joys of being at a healthier weight?

My number one joy is fashion! I can wear heels without having painful feet due to being overweight the pressure and strain on my feet. Plus, a bigger variety of clothes to choose from..hehe

If you could leave readers with a word of advice or any tips, what would it be?

Make it a mission by turning it into a life changing lifestyle, for not just you but for your children, peers, family.

I asked, you answered and now its time to deliver! A couple of weeks ago, I asked you on Instagram and Facebook if you wanted me to incorporate more weight loss inspiration, challenges and tips on the blog and the response was unanimously YES! So to kick off my new segment on the blog, #LNLWeightLoss, here is Fenise's inspiring story!

Much love,
Tiff

What motivated you to lose weight and how much have you lost?

I have never been on a diet before and honestly I just had nothing to lose! It was the best decision of my life and I’m very proud I did it, but losing the weight was the easy part. I struggle with keeping the weight off. I won’t give up without a fight though. I lost 90 pounds but gained 30 of it back due to a health issue.  I lost it in 9 months which wasn't the best idea so this time around I’m just doing it at a slower paste.

What did you do to lose weight?

I just made better food choices and worked out at the gym. I didn't do anything special.

What are some of your favorite meals, food items or snacks when dieting?

Spinach and fruits were my favorite. No rice, soda, bread. None of that stuff. I also ate a lot of special K products, but if it wasn't that, I ate fish and chicken with a salad on the side.

Did you follow any weight loss "rules"? (i.e. no eating after 5, no carbs, etc.?)

I ate smaller portions and didn't eat after 7.

In your opinion, what is the hardest thing about weight loss?

Hardest thing about weight loss is keeping the weight OFF! Also having faith in yourself. I didn't struggle with temptation until I was on my diet.

What are some of the joys of being at a healthier weight?

My skin is much healthier and clothes fit and look better.
